Interested in getting involved with the Counterpoint Players’ new Fringe show???

It’s called “Mixing Boal: Kitchen of the Oppressed” and here’s the program description:

“Join the Rideau Award nominated Counterpoint Players in the Kitchen of the Oppressed as they dish up political theatre that’s easy to swallow. Four seasoned chefs go spoon to spoon in this interactive cooking show inspired by Augusto Boal’s Theatre of the Oppressed. And you decide which ingredients go into the Mixing Boal!”

So, as you can see, it’s a “cooking show,” and I’d like the four chefs to be great female characters from important plays (that you would never imagine in a kitchen – like Phaedra or Mary Stuart). And of course, there will be elements of improv as well, since it’s inspired by Theatre of the Oppressed. There will also be a 5th character, an emcee/”joker” type that may be played by a man.

The Fringe is June 17-27, so the rehearsal and development period will be about 6 weeks starting in May.

There will be an informal audition/workshop this coming Wednesday (April 14) from 6:30-9, to see how everyone plays together and to give more information, so that everyone can make an informed decision about if they want to participate or not. You’ll all be auditioning me, as well as me auditioning you.

If you know someone else who might be interested, please invite them along.

Please email me at bronwyn42@hotmail.com to let me know:

  1. That you’re interested & available.
  2. Can you make it on Wednesday the 14th 6:30-9?
  3. If you’re interested in performance/tech/both.

The Counterpoint Players operate on a profit-sharing system.
