Bronwyn Steinberg – Artistic Director

Bronwyn Steinberg completed the MFA program in Theatre (Directing) at the University of Ottawa in 2010. For the University of Ottawa’s Unicorn Theatre, she mounted Sharon Pollock’s Blood Relations as her thesis production and also directed Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Tell Me on a Sunday and George Bernard Shaw’s The Dark Lady of the Sonnets. She also had the opportunity to be the directing intern with Peter Hinton and the NAC’s 40th Anniversary English Theatre Resident Company on both Mother Courage and A Christmas Carol. She has also recently directed Homechild: the musical (GOYA) and upcoming projects include: creating and performing Occupy Me (SubDevision), assistant director for Circle Mirror Transformation (GCTC) and director for My Name is Asher Lev (9th Hour).

In 2009, Bronwyn founded the Counterpoint Players, and under her direction, the company has created two original productions to date: Pirate Jenny’s Circus (nominated for a 2009 Prix Rideau Award) and Mixing Boal: Kitchen of the Oppressed (2010), both for the Ottawa Fringe Festival. In 2011, Bronwyn and the Counterpoint Players collaborated with Jenny and Larry Tarof and Dr. L’s Music to stage a workshop production of their original musical, Olympus.

Favourite acting credits include Sandy in The Crackwalker (Theatre Inconnu), Cecily in The Importance of Being Earnest (Plosive Productions), Ginny in Momma’s Boy (Asterisk Rising), and Anne in Anne & Gilbert (GOYA).
